It has been such an amazing experience to have worked with and get to know the Lundeen family and sculpture Joey Bainer over the past 3 years while capturing these monuments. Every time I drive up to their downtown Loveland studio it is wonderful to catch up with everyone and see the exciting new sculpture commissions that are taking shape. It always leaves me in awe of how talented these people really are to be able to bring a figure to life.
This year’s project is all about memorializing the first American woman astronaut to enter space, Dr. Sally Ride. This project has been especially interesting because the artists had to create Sally two different times due to a freak fire that destroyed the sculpture and their main studio room in Loveland.
